ABSTRACT

For those familiar with my work it may not come as a surprise that I'm a sucker for big shiny robots and stuff exploding. Transformers may not be Oscar-worthy material but it certainly provides me with a lot of inspiration and ideas for these paintings. With Deep Impact I really wanted to create a very intense shot of a robot landing in the middle of a chaotic battle, clearly set on a target and with no intentions of letting a few missiles scare him. As with most paintings I do, I went with a very cinematic style, mostly because I always visualize my paintings in movement. You could say that I try to find the most intense, epic frame of the movie playing in my mind and then just do my best to make it come to life.
