ABSTRACT

FCC enforcement actions against a broadcaster typically flow from one of the following: (1) disclosures broadcasters are required to make in renewal applications or other applications or reports; (2) complaints by viewers, listeners, or public interest groups; (3) complaints by former employees; (4) complaints by competitors; (5) on-site inspections by Enforcement Bureau field agents; or (6) periodic compliance reviews, audits, or other investigations begun by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC/Commission) against a select or random group of broadcasters in connection with a particular rule or set of rules.
