ABSTRACT
Retrospective miscue analysis involves educators sitting with learners and listening to recordings of the learners’ reading. Then, those recordings serve as a source of teaching and learning as the readers’ strengths are celebrated and they are taught that miscues are acceptable (and that many miscues make good sense). Learners are encouraged to share their thinking during RMA. This chapter provides step by step instructions for RMA and includes examples of actual RMA sessions.
