Emotional Engagement as Manifested in Students’ Bodies

Given the significance of embodied and emotional literacies, researchers and teachers need means for observing and documenting their manifestations in students’ engagements. In this chapter, the Visual Learning Analysis (VLA) is described as a process and product that makes manifestations of embodied and emotional literacies visible in photographs of active learning. The VLA is illustrated with preschool, middle school, and high school examples.
