ABSTRACT

Each healthcare process has all four quadruple aim outcomes; clinical, per capita cost, patient experience, and healthcare provider experience. The Outcome Measurement Framework from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) further categorizes health outcomes as survival, clinical response, events of interest, and patient reported. The challenge for population health systems is to drive the transaction cost to zero and relieve healthcare workers of routine administrative tasks. Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) is an AHRQ program that develops surveys that focus on aspects of healthcare that consumers are best qualified to assess. These surveys are available for free and cover topics like ease of access to care and patient experience. Users of CAHPS survey results include patients and consumers, health care providers, public and private purchasers of health care, health care accreditation organizations, health plans, and regional improvement collaboratives.
