ABSTRACT

Electronic health record vendors and third-party applications offer a variety of tools for managing quality program specifications, benchmarking, and reporting. For health systems providing a full spectrum of care and managing a complex payor portfolio, a single enterprise-wide quality measure management system is required that is distinct from but integrated with the performance reporting infrastructure. A summary of available information on healthcare quality management systems is provided by KLAS Research, a provider of analysis and reports on the healthcare technology industry. In contrast to the well-targeted search results for Change Healthcare, the range of results provide an illustration of the lexical challenges in researching this type of system—for example, the paid advertisements for quality management systems linked to solutions not specifically targeted for healthcare. Easy measures include tasks that can be completed by the staff so that the healthcare organization has direct control over success or failure.
