ABSTRACT

"The Foreign Ministers accorded great importance to the successful completion of the Multilateral Trade Negotiations under way in the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade to further liberalise international trade and reform the international trade system. For the developing countries, changes in the General Agreement on Tariff's and Trade rules, in the sense of introducing a permanent legal basis for preferential treatment to developing countries, is an essential prerequisite to changing their position in international trade relations and attaining the objectives of the New International Economic Order. Among the mam ways for the gradual approximation and equalisation of the economic development levels of the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance member countries utilised are the mobilisation and utilisation of the efforts and resources of the countries concerned, and the utilisation of the advantages offered by the international socialist division of labour.
