ABSTRACT

Human neurological responses to the built environment influence our health and well-being, independently of pathogens and pollutants. A long-overdue experimental program will identify healing effects of our environment, focusing strictly upon the impact that different geometries have on our body. Existing work predicts which special geometrical features, including details, influence our health in a positive way and which degrade it. Evidence so far strongly supports this design framework, and proposed experiments will add further needed validation. If implemented fully, this experimental program could spur a new, adaptive architecture, offering unprecedented healing properties to users.
