ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the growth of mobile solutions for telemedicine, remote monitoring, self-care and the like. A host of new players are developing easy-to-use, affordable “care anywhere” devices, services, solutions and networks that are attractive to a broad range of buyers. The business profile of the mHealth venture proceeds from an understanding of the value being delivered to the customer being targeted. The chapter discusses business planning, but to establish a conceptual framework for the business model, let’s recap. To bring the business-model decision further into focus, lets take a look at several alternate models: The Operational/Clinical Business Model, Consumer Products and Services Model and The Infrastructure Business Model. Identifying an mHealth business framework is just the beginning of business modeling; the greater challenge lies in articulating a corporate strategy in terms of business plans and go-to-market execution schemes. The topics form the substrate of the business planning process and bring into focus roadmap for execution of a mHealth strategy.
