ABSTRACT

On tablet devices, the mobile application also provides computerized provider order entry for streamlined, clean lab orders at any time. The mobile application leverages the extensive clinical information management capabilities of Halfpenny Technologies’ Integration Technology Framework infrastructure. Smart mobile devices and applications are not limited to a passive role in healthcare delivery. Many physicians use their mobile devices as input devices to their electronic medical records while seeing patients. Serving physicians in and around Manhattan, Manhattan Labs mobile results delivery is based on the Halfpenny Technologies Inc. ITF hub (ITF-Hub) and the related ITF-GoDoc mobile application. In the case of result reporting, the mobile application records the actions by the mobile user—whether a result report was accessed, reviewed in its entirety, acknowledged or ignored—and this information is reported back to the lab that produced the result report. For Dr. Neri’s practice, a mobile lab reporting application has reaped significant benefits in patient safety and quality of care.
