ABSTRACT

In the past decades, analytics in healthcare has emerged from obscurity to become a competitive advantage for savvy organizations. In the near future, the discipline should continue to offer a competitive advantage to healthcare organizations (HCOs) willing to invest in and explore novel analytics approaches, tools and, most importantly, people. A thriving analytics program has become a requirement for all organizations. The demand for analytics both internally and externally is voracious, with the discipline moving from the sole domain of research, retrospective reporting, and single studies to an organization-wide and industry-wide demand on a near-real-time basis. Finally, the need for healthcare analytics is being driven further by standards-based approaches required by trade organizations, regulatory bodies, and vendors.
