ABSTRACT

Since the late 1980s, the wave of interest in French thought has been tickling the walls of the Business School too. Whilst it should not be imagined that the impact has been as great as that in other areas of the social sciences and humanities, the work of Foucault, Derrida, Levinas, Deleuze, and Guattari has found application, and to a lesser extent, so has that of Badiou and Serres. In this short essay, I will review and comment on these developments, particularly in the context of the rise of Critical Management Studies within the Northern European Business School and the way in which that has brought questions concerning the ontology, epistemology, and ethics of organising to the fore.
