ABSTRACT

This document presents the historical context in which the current deontological and ethical Code in force for Colombia was developed, contained in Law 1090 of 2006. The context of historical events since 1954 with the creation of various organizations that sought to promote and manage the development of professional psychology and the regulation of its practice. It is shown how this is a principled code and that it reflects the cultural environment of the practice, strengthening it from a legal framework, for which it has established the six regional Courts through which coverage is provided to oversee the practice of psychology throughout the country. Each of the Courts has the support of secretarial lawyers and, with an average of seven Magistrate psychologists who execute an ad honorem service. This code has been able to impact regional professional psychology in Ecuador, Mexico, Uruguay and Peru.
