ABSTRACT

This chapter defines objects which fit in the Hybrid typology within the architectonic taxonomy. Hybrid Objects are those that combine at least two of the three tectonic types listed above regardless of the subtype that exists within. The chapter includes the larger taxonomic map of all objects, the reduced matrix of objects that fit only within the Hybrid category, as well as numerous Hybrid typology examples grouped into their more specific categories. Under each object image we provide the meaning or effect of making the particular object shown and we provide precedent buildings that we consider to be related to the object in question. Toward the end of the chapter we provide perspective drawings that indicate how these objects might be realized as built work. Finally, the chapter includes several pages which show the process of physically crafting the objects in question.
