ABSTRACT

This chapter exposes various strategies in presenting the history of electronic music. Indeed, after over seventy years of an existence rich in innovations, electronic music has remained an elusive object for analysis. Despite the invention of various analysis methods, none has been widely adopted by musicologists and teachers. In this chapter, the question of uncovering the conditions of production is raised as a determining factor for a better understanding of the materials and technology used, as well as the aims and dreams of composers.
