ABSTRACT

The Second National Online Meeting, organized by Online Review, took place in New York City on March 24–26, 1981. Major sessions covered changing roles in the information industry; library applications of online searching; marketing of online services; the office of the future; management and operation of online services; education and training; measures and evaluations for planning future systems and services; and economic factors. Concurrent with these meetings were product reviews presented by database producers and programs keyed to databases in specific disciplines. There was a large number of exhibitors, both U.S. and foreign, on hand to display wares ranging from computer terminals to new databases. Commercial, governmental, and not-for-profit exhibitors were included in the 60 organizations having booths this year.
