ABSTRACT

The Skoog is a soft, tactile cube with spheres projecting out of each surface. The base is made of hard plastic, which holds all the electronics. It is a controller. So this squeezy cube will connect to an iPad or a computer, and allow to control and create musical sounds. They, together, make the instrument. It has a battery and Bluetooth. It has its own processor. It has sensors embedded in it. It is not just switches or buttons. The whole foam, deformable body is sensitive. It acts as a sensor, in a way. It is very tactile. It is made of polyurethane foam with a sort of rubber skin. It has these spherical, button-like projections out of each surface, with a coloured ring around each one, and each side has a different colour. The current Skoog app will integrate with Spotify and iTunes and will automatically set the notes on the Skoog to be the right pentatonic key.
