ABSTRACT
Chapter 12, by George W. Burruss and Yunmei Lu, considers the potential for visualizations to translate research findings to policy. The authors consider the concept of translational criminology and the main ideas behind data visualization. They argue that visualization can be applied to help promote translational criminology by overcoming some barriers to understanding that stem from complex statistical analysis. They conclude the chapter with three examples of research findings displayed in traditional academic format (tables and results) and then apply the principles of data visualization to help translate the results into a format that could be more useful to practitioners.
