ABSTRACT

In Chapter 5, Heith Copes and Johannes Wheeldon examine the utility of visual data collection for crime and justice research. Building on their work over the past decade, they discuss visual approaches in the social sciences and explore tools and techniques that can be used as part of participant data collection. This involves reflecting on the history of visual approaches, considering essential epistemological questions, and providing specific examples. They explore the value of visual approaches for quantitative and qualitative researchers alike through two case studies.
