ABSTRACT
This review and selective bibliography span the 1970s with special emphasis on the latter half of the period. They cite publications on the National Serials Pilot Project, NSDP, ISDS, ISSN, CONSER, ANSI Z39, COMARC, CODEN, ISBD-S, NPC, and OCLC. They call attention to five periodicals, and a number of state-of-the art reports. They identify numerous independently developed applications. Relationships are emphasized. Together, they provide a framework for assessing the future.
