ABSTRACT
The impact on union listing activities of growth in serials publishing and of budgetary stringency is discussed. Evidence is presented to show how advances in computer technology are making possible uniform representation of bibliographic and holdings information and so contributing to the success of union listing projects. Some important union listing publications are described, and the future of union listing is commented upon.
