ABSTRACT

Serials cataloging has undergone a revolution since the beginning of the 1970s. Various forces on both national and international levels have played an important role in the transformation of traditional cataloging practices. This paper summarizes the development of the International Serials Data System and the International Standard Bibliographic Description for Serials and their impact on both of the editions of the Anglo-American Cataloging Rules. The CONversion of SERials Project is also examined in depth.
