ABSTRACT

This chapter aims to dissect, analyse, and understand the complex and interconnected economic activities of Amazon that together contributed to build its economic empire. It examines its economic profile and profit-maximisation strategies to show why its constant focus on making low profits on many items, rather than high profits on a few, became the core strategy to build its platform. The chapter delves into its core “product as service” strategy, exploring the courses of integration and diversification as the company develops its economic dominance.
