ABSTRACT

The creation of Transmission of the Invisible is concerned with the essence and inner life of the human person as it outwardly defines itself and if need be, asserts itself by means of collective artistic/cultural expressions, even after dire circumstances have threatened those collective forms of expression with near oblivion. Recently, after performances of Transmission of the Invisible, Yim Savann told the author that he has been able to explore in a new way what Khmer culture means to him, especially as he has experienced it within his own inner life, because of the self-exploratory opportunities that the process and the performances afforded him. It was interesting for the author to see how the visual and sonic worlds of Transmission of the Invisible were able to support and elaborate ineffable states of awareness for all of us. The psychological profile is given in order to contextualize his relationship to the kinds of reactions Transmission of the Invisible received in Cambodia.
