ABSTRACT
In this chapter, we chart the growth, development, and evolution of Girlhood Studies: An Interdisciplinary Journal over its first 15 years and of Girlhood Studies as an academic discipline as well as a community. We talk about how the dream of a journal on Girlhood Studies came to be realized and consider the significance of its origin stories. In tracing the evolution of the journal, we consider how different critical frameworks have influenced its content and perspectives over the years. We also discuss how the copyediting process has contributed to the development of the journal itself and to its contributors.
