ABSTRACT

In addition to planning for cyber security education broadly defined, comprehensive and multidisciplinary, there are some niche mission sets that deserve attention. This chapter addresses the requirement for education that might equip students and practitioners for cyber disaster scenarios. The need goes further than organisations looking after their own networks or legislation that covers critical infrastructure. This chapter calls for a focus not just on specific cyber education practices, but on utilising current disaster recovery methods and case studies to inform responses in situations of cyber crisis. The disconnect between national cyber emergencies as a policy priority, especially since 2016, and the lack of engagement by university educators with the issue at the level of intensity and urgency suggested by the shift in policy needs, is highlighted.
