ABSTRACT
This article will look at the journal literature of three professions closely related to the practice of medicine. As one of the series in “Journals of the Century,” the goal is to highlight the most enduring and influential journals which have made outstanding contributions to their respective professions. The intent is not to provide a core journal list, a task which others have already undertaken (see the Reference list). The growth of the journal literature in these fields reflects the scientific advancement and innovation as these emerging professions aimed to establish their separate identities, standards and practices.
