ABSTRACT

The American television network ABC aired Twin Peaks for its entire run of thirty episodes. As the show’s host network, ABC was responsible for its advertising, which took the form of television promos and spots. The campaign was never massive, but it did feature episode previews, series promos, and a special spot with agent Cooper (and show characters) announcing the change of broadcast night from Wednesday to Thursday nights. The commercials draw upon the music Angelo Badalamenti wrote for the series, and the chapter will consider how that score functions in the context of promotional media for television programming.
