ABSTRACT

This chapter will focus on the assessment, treatment planning, and outcome evaluations that go into helping our clients be best served by the neurocounseling techniques. Though we do not always have the ability to see the brain through imaging or EEG evaluations, we can use paper-and-pencil and cognitive assessments to look at brain functioning. This is often the best way to look at what we are treating, the brain. Assessments that will be described are Dr. Daniel Amen’s Free Brain Health Assessment, Neurological Dysregulation Risk Assessment, Test of Variable Attention (TOVA), Clinical Q, and 19-channel EEG assessment. In addition, the pros and cons of each of these assessments will be explored as well.
