ABSTRACT
This chapter explains the methodological practices, objectives and considerations involved in conducting interdisciplinary research, with a focus on applied linguistics. A few examples in which linguistic theory is applied in research that crosses disciplinary boundaries are provided. Challenges to and implications for conducting interdisciplinary research and conveying knowledge to a wider audience in fields beyond linguistics, such as health communication, are also discussed.
