ABSTRACT
Rabindranath Tagore’s writings on different educational problems during the Visva-Bharati Period, apart from those directly on the Visva-Bharati theme. He, therefore, recommends the system of fact-finding educational projects to be undertaken in various fields of surrounding community-life by the students under the guidance of interested teachers, and mentions two such projects that have been proposed to be started in the neighboring areas. The external source of discontent according to him, arose out of the fact that the existing system of education was no longer adequate either to give suitable employment or to train pupils for the various professions. The aims of our education must be reoriented without any further loss of time. The main function of the educational institutions in India, therefore, is, according to him, to assemble the Hindus, the Buddhists, the Jains, the Muslims, the Sikhs, the Parsees, and the Christians into one vast field of intellectual endeavor for the attainment of truth.
