ABSTRACT

The perfect quietude of Salisbury-square, situated as it is within a few yards of Fleet-street, was strikingly demonstrated on this occasion; and as to the dinner and attendance, they left nothing to be desired. The hotel apartments were at the time full to overflowing, and great satisfaction was expressed by the visitors both at the general construction of the building and at the manner in which the hotel had been fitted for the reception of those who may avail themselves of its accommodation. The Chairman said he felt deeply grateful for the kind manner in which his health had been proposed by Mr. Trethewy, and received by the company. The passages were all wide and airy, the rooms were all light, and on one of the most difficult pieces of ground that it was possible to conceive, a well-planned hotel had been erected.
