ABSTRACT

The past 20 years have further enshrined that geospatial information goes beyond cartography and map-making and indeed underpins decision-making for all in our society. While the start of this decade, diplomatically speaking, was not the most auspicious of starts, through the appropriate development of geospatial strategies, we can not only break away from these challenges but reach those that have been for too long on the fringes of our global society. This chapter synthesizes a discussion on how we get here, considers a variety of frameworks, strategies, and highlights a variety of resources for developing geospatial strategies.
