ABSTRACT
The British colonist set the stage for White Supremacy in the United States, stealing Indian lands and eventually exterminating Indigenous people from the northern colonies. The Puritans brought with them the concept of Divine Provenance which justified White Supremacy and the extermination of “lesser humans” such as Indigenous peoples through trickery and conflict. The idea of White Supremacy was not exclusive to the Puritans: all religious domination during this era, including the Quakers, tolerated slavery of both Indians and Africans. This form of capitalism witnessed New England slave traders getting rich while supplying the southern plantations with Black African slaves, while selling off troublesome Indians into slavery as well. Moreover, New England Blue Coat militias were complicit in the expulsion of the Acadian French and Métis illustrating an early example of ethnic cleansing.
