ABSTRACT

A triangular wedge of white stone and grass roof are the primary elements that catch the eye when first viewing the Mosegaard Museum in Aarhus, Denmark. When explored the viewer discovers the structure is complex and richly developed. Sensory experiences abound both inside and outside the museum. Designers use light, texture, sound, color, temperature, and technology to engage the audience and present archaeological and ethnographical artifacts in a stunning series of exhibits. Flooded with natural light and outdoor access the museum is innovative and inspiring from both the viewpoint of a designer and that of a visitor.
