ABSTRACT

Cultural adaptation of psychological interventions is far from uniform. Practices vary and emerging theoretical formulations are diverse. In this vein, practitioners may benefit from an integrated model and practical guidelines for adaptation. While the present chapter edges in that direction, it doesn’t pretend to complete the picture. The main objective is rather to sensitize the reader to key notions in the area of cultural adaptation, drawn from theory and practice. These notions are elucidated using Group Interpersonal Psychotherapy as treatment example and socioeconomically disadvantaged Lebanese women suffering with depression as population.
