ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book focuses on the development of a partnership learning community dedicated to sharing, understanding, and developing powerful teaching and learning. It presents the lines laid out in this introduction, starting with a more in-depth look at the social context of the partnership, necessary for understanding the work. The book addresses key questions and enabling factors in people partnership development, provided especially for those interested in the details of the institutional journey entailed. It focuses on clinical, collaborative, and contextual learning practices with a portrait of research on students’ academic literacy development and academic discourse in a partner school, and its influence on one faculty member’s teaching in the Master of Arts in Teaching program. The book discusses the collaborative, clinical, and contextual teaching and learning practices. It concludes with a summary discussion of lessons, challenges, and questions.
