ABSTRACT

This chapter argues that dedicate time every day for Physical Education as well as Health Education so that it becomes embedded as a valued subject across the whole school and being physical becomes a habit that is formed within primary school. It reviews the research highlighting the importance of both Physical Education and Health Education and sign-posted readings to support and enable class teachers and schools to embed a culture of physical development, physical activity, Physical Education, and Health Education for life. The case study examples will offer three distinct perspectives on developing Physical Education and Health Education pedagogy within the classroom and throughout the school. The case study explores how physical activity interventions embedded within the class to support children's wellbeing. The case study is from an experienced researcher and primary school teacher, who explains strategies he has used for enhancing children's understanding of Health Education by focusing on the element of diet that is often forgotten, fluid intake.
