ABSTRACT

53Developed by the Nanoscale Informal Science Education Network (NISE Net), Team-Based Inquiry (TBI) intends to empower informal science education teams by enabling them to get the data they need, when they need it so that they can improve their products and practices and, ultimately, more effectively engage audiences. The TBI process involves an ongoing cycle of inquiry (question, investigate, reflect, and improve) that is embedded within professional practice. In this chapter, we discuss the intentions and theory behind the TBI process, share examples of TBI in action, and highlight challenges and lessons learned relevant to the field more broadly.
