ABSTRACT

Nitsun (1998a) celebrates how group analysis has been informed by many theoretical traditions: psychoanalysis, systems theory, social psychology, and sociology, suggesting that a multi-perspective frame, fitting to the challenges of organizational complexity, can enrich the possibilities for building a robust approach to organizational consultancy. It is in this spirit that I share some reflections about the three approaches outlined in this chapter, exploring some similarities and differences relating to theoretical assumptions; ideas about organizational sense making; consultant role, relationship and task; and intervention.
