ABSTRACT
Families, work organizations, and the state are gendered institutions. Therefore, emotions that are relegated to the private realm by the prevailing gender regime must be brought back to the public sphere in order to understand processes of exclusion of female officers in the Brazilian Air Force. Gender roles, identities, visibility and invisibility of bodies, and the gendered division of labor are studied in order to better understand the resistence to the presence of women in the Armed Forces.
