ABSTRACT

The concern for simulation research has always been whether the simulated environment accurately captures the real-life situation being simulated. Advances in computer technology have greatly improved accuracy. This chapter uses a variety of virtual reality tools to simulate classroom designs before they are built, promising enormous savings in construction costs. These virtual reality tools provide their own sense of interiority in that subjects experience an interior world without actually being in one. The goal for this simulation process is a generalizable tool that will be available online, allowing anyone to use it in their design processes for any design typology.
