ABSTRACT
There is a tendency among some religious educationalists to disparage the role of measurement in education and in educational research. The first project was designed to monitor the change which occurs in the child’s attitude towards religion during the period of schooling. The second project was designed to examine the influence of the school upon the primary school child’s attitude towards religion. The older end of the age continuum was defined by the fact that after the fifth year of the secondary school, schools no longer contain a representative sample of the age group. This chapter presents the summary findings of further completed research, and discusses the implications of these findings for the religious educationalist. Since 1974 the two initial research projects have become the basis on which further research studies have been designed to employ the same attitude scale.
