ABSTRACT
Luis TristÁn, born in the province of Toledo about 1585, is the only pupil of El Greco who developed his own artistic personality and distinguished himself as a painter. His pupil-master relationship with El Greco is visible only in his depiction of a few specific subjects, for which he adapted the older artist's formal schemes, a practice he would continue to the end of his short life.
