ABSTRACT
The paper presented by Ronald McKinnon in this conference serves to substantiate his untiring call for a fundamental reform of the international monetary system. The most recent version is McKinnon [1987]. In my comments I will first discuss McKinnon’s contribution to this conference, next point out two major problems of his proposal for reform, and finally sketch an alternative.
