ABSTRACT

In some practical though not in a cognitive way we have come rather close to the philosophical views of the American school of pragmatism. Let me cite in this connection a demand put forward recently by one of their adepts, Professor Richard Rorty: »There are two distinct requirements for the vocabulary of social sciences. 1. It should contain descriptions of situations which facilitate their prediction and control; 2. it should contain descriptions which help one decide what to do«*. Reasonable wording! It seems to me that the new thinking in world affairs should incorporate those demands.
