At the end of the Second World War Hungary was the last satellite of Hitler-Germany and has been now the first rebel in Central and Eastern Europe. The essential aim needs also European efforts, of course mainly Hungarian efforts, but also European efforts, mainly in the economic field. The German Democratic Republic is now the third commercial partner of Hungary after the Soviet Union and the Federal Republic. Anyway, one of the new big political parties in Hungary plans to develop more the relations with the United States in order to create a counterbalance to the overwhelming relations with the united Germany. One of the ways of Hungarian foreign policy, and also of the international economic relations of Hungary, is promoting regional cooperation in Central Europe.
