ABSTRACT

The Romanian perception of Hungary is that Hungary is trying to internationalize the conflict and to push it to an international mediation. The Romanian people's attitude towards Hungarians is very contrary not only in Transylvania but also in Moldavia. The celebration of the 1848 revolution which was pushed on the Romanian territory was also a very sensitive question. The Balkans are really one option which is open and will be pursued by the Romanian government. BBC presented an interview with a Hungarian party leader who was a former Romanian citizen, who had emigrated in 1978 and organized a demonstration in Hungary. If a Romanian decision-maker is confronted with the situation in Romania, his main responsibility is the situation in Romania towards the Romanian people and to its requirements. Economically the system inherited from Ceausescu was probably the highest centralized in Eastern European terms, too.
