ABSTRACT

This chapter considers the major uncertainties threatening our international economic security. The global economy needs the concerted efforts of every country in the world. To affirm that all larger uncertainties are parts of the total global malady does not minimize the seriousness of the present crisis threatening our world. At the moment, however, the world economy and international security seem to be more readily affected by political and military affairs than by changes occurring in the course of global economic evolution. The necessity for concerted efforts in the interest of world economic recovery has been well recognized by most world leaders for some time and has been repeatedly reconfirmed in summit meetings. The chapter discusses the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, or the Group of 10 to 20, or even the United Nations may vie for legitimacy as a forum for some of the issues.
