ABSTRACT
The mid-1970s witnessed the beginning of a profound transformation in the Chilean economy. Its backbone was the freeing and development of several markets throughout the economy and the liberalization of trade and investment. As a result, Chile evolved from one of the most distorted countries into one of the most highly integrated into the world economy.
